Prof. Charles Soludo, the former governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, was sworn in as the new governor of Anambra State on Thursday morning in a low-key ceremony in the state capital, Akwa.
The swearing-in ceremony was attended by only about 50 people.

Hours before the event, as guests began to arrive for the program, the venue was heavily guarded. Prior to entering the venue, they were subjected to routine security checks.
The new governor will be sworn in by the Chief Justice.
At the Government House, Soludo and his deputy, Dr. Onyeka Ibezim, took the oath of office.
Victor Oye, National Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), and his wife attended the ceremony, as did Uchenna Okafor, Speaker of the Anambra State House of Assembly, Sen. Victor Umeh, Bianca Ojukwu, clergymen, traditional rulers, and others.
Soludo has arrived at the location.
The newly sworn-in governor of Anambra State promised the people of the state that he would keep his campaign promises.
He promised to turn Anambra into an economic hub and urged Anambra residents to join him in carrying out his mandate.
