Ninety-one-year-old Sikiru Kayode Adetona, the Awujale of Ijebuland, passed away.
According to reports, the monarch died on Sunday, a few hours after former President Muhammadu Buhari passed away.
Western Post reports that the monarch’s death was confirmed on Sunday by Ogun State Government officials and a trustworthy source near Awujale’s Palace in Ijebu-Ode.

One of the longest-reigning traditional rulers in Nigeria, Oba Adetona was a longstanding friend of Buhari and a revered figure among Yoruba monarchs and the nation at large. He came to power in 1960.
Official announcements from the palace and state government are anticipated soon, although details of the monarch’s death are yet unclear.
