Following the killing of two farmers by a suspected Fulani herder on Monday, there is currently tension in the Azhi-Kasa community in the Tafa Local Government Area of Niger State.
According to our Reporter, the victims, who are from the Gbagyi tribe, were hacked to death while working on their farms.
Their assassination has sparked a wave of violence in the area, with young men from Gbagyi bracing for battle and looking for Fulani herders to plunder.
Residents in the area have been fleeing their homes due to the outbreak of violence, fearful of being caught in the middle of the crisis.
“In the Azhi-Kasa community, there is currently a ‘war’ going on. “Gbagyi boys have retaliated, and everyone is fleeing,” says a Fulani man who killed two Gbagyi men on their farmland. “There’s tension everywhere,” said a local resident who spoke with our Reporter.

When contacted by our Reporter, f policemen and other security agencies with vigilante members have been mobilized to beef up security in the area.”
