Oba Lekan Balogun has been sworn in as the 42nd Olubadan of Ibadan by Governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde.
This occurred at the new monarch’s coronation ceremony in Ibadan, the capital of Oyo State.
Vice President Yemi Osinbajo and former Vice President Atiku Abubarkar attended the function.
Other dignitaries in attendance included Ekiti Governor Kayode Fayemi, Ogun Governor Dapo Abiodun, Osun Deputy Governor Benedict Alabi, and Ondo State Deputy Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa.
The Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi III; the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi; the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar; the Olugbo of Ugbo Kingdom, Oba Fredrick Obateru Akinruntan; and the Ambassador of the Republic of China to Nigeria, Cui Jiauchun, were also in attendance.
Oba Yusuf Adeleye, the Olubaka of Okaland in Ondo State; Oluwo of Iwoland; the Ikere of Saki, Aseyin of Iseyin, former Governor of Oyo State; and the Otun Olubadan, Chief Rasidi Ladoja, and Femi Pedro, a former Deputy Governor of Lagos State, were also in attendance.

With the recitation of the National Anthem, Oyo State Anthem, and Ibadan Anthem, the ceremony was formally declared open at 11:14 a.m.
The opening prayers were said by Christians, Muslims, and the Araba Awo of Ibadanland, who performed the customary prayer.
In addition, Moshood Ayanyemi, Atookowagbowo, and other Ibadan drummers performed a traditional welcome to the guests and well-wishers.
The 42nd Olubadan of Ibadanland, on the other hand, was escorted into the site at exactly 11.50 a.m., following which all of Ibadanland’s traditional chiefs, Mogajis, religious leaders, and heads of other groups paid respect to Oba Balogun.
