Ado Doguwa, the majority leader of the House of Representatives, has endorsed Tajudeen Abbas after withdrawing his name from consideration for election to the 10th House of Representatives.
During a meeting on Wednesday that was organized by the joint task group, Doguwa was the catalyst that caused two additional candidates, Abubakar Makki and Tunji Oluwuyi, to withdraw from the race.
It would be that the party currently in power, the APC, gave its support to Abbas and Ben Kalu for the positions of speaker and deputy speaker, which prompted protests from other candidates.
Earlier, Doguwa had collaborated with a group of other aspirants to establish a coalition that would challenge Abbas.
However, in an unexpected turn of events, he has decided to back out of the deal.
During his talk, he stated that he is unable to act in a manner that is contrary to the party.
