Okunbo, also known as Captain Hosa, was born on January 7, 1958, in Benin, Edo State, and died in London after a battle with pancreatic cancer.
Some of his associates, speaking on the condition of anonymity, said he died on Saturday, while some prominent Benin figures said he died on Sunday morning.
Olu of Warri-designate, Prince Tsola Emiko, is Okunbo’s son-in-law and married to Okunbo’s daughter, Ivie.

The entrepreneur, who graduated as a professional commercial pilot from the Nigerian Civil Aviation Training Centre in Zaria at the age of 21, was promoted to captain at the age of 25 in 1983.
He left the company five years later.
Okunbo worked as a commercial pilot for Intercontinental Airlines and Okada Airlines.
