BREAKING: Akintoye resigns as Chairman of the Coalition for Self-Determination

Professor Banji Akintoye, a separatist leader, has resigned as Chairman of the Nigerian Indigenous Nationalities Alliance for Self-Determination (NINAS).

Akintoye, who accused some NINAS leaders of having goals that are incompatible with self-determination, announced his resignation “with immediate effect.”

According to a statement obtained by Akintoye and 44 other leaders on Tuesday, it is critical for the Yoruba bloc to leave the alliance in order to preserve the alliance’s integrity.

“In light of the current development in the Yoruba Self-Determination struggle, particularly in Ilana Omo Oodua, it has become very necessary for the Yoruba people to dissociate themselves from the Alliance known as NINAS with immediate effect,” the statement reads in part.

“It is our considered opinion that some of those with whom we align in NINAS do not want the kind of self-determination that we, the Yoruba people, desire.”

“As a result, we, the leadership of Ilana Omo Oodua Worldwide, wish to inform the general public that the Yoruba Bloc, led by Ilana Omo Oodua Worldwide, has withdrawn from the Nigerian Indigenous Nationalities Alliance for Self-Determination with immediate effect in order to protect the integrity and honor of our Self-Determination agitation.”

“We thank Mr. Tony Nnadi, the Leader of the LNC, for his contributions to the NINAS struggle since its inception. The LNC, on the other hand, is no longer working in tandem with our goal in Ilana Omo Oodua, as most people in the Yoruba Self-Determination struggle have realized.

“As a result of this development, Professor Adebanji Stephen Akintoye’s prestigious leadership of NINAS as Chairman, which he has provided since its inception, will come to an end on Tuesday, November 30th, 2021.”

“Furthermore, with immediate effect, Ilana Omo Oodua withdraws its membership from NINAS.” This statement is a notice to all Yoruba people worldwide who believe in the agitation for Yoruba Nation Self-Determination at home and abroad to comply.

“However, we are pleased to inform you that a more productive Wide-Alliance, to be known as the South and Middle-Belt People’s Sovereign Movement, will be officially inaugurated following the completion of ongoing consultations with like-minded individuals across the South and Middle-Belt Regions.”
