Public indignation has been triggered by a terrible occurrence in Mayo-Belwa, Adamawa State, where a Nigerian soldier is accused of killing a young phone repair technician because the repair was delayed.
Witnesses claim that after his girlfriend complained that her phone had not been mended promptly, the soldier, identified as Lance Corporal Ahmada A., attacked and killed the technician, Alkasum Ibrahim. According to reports, the event happened on Wednesday.
It was discovered that the soldier’s girlfriend had previously brought her malfunctioning phone to Alkasum’s shop so that it might be fixed. However, the repair was delayed for what were thought to be technical or workload-related reasons. She apparently called her boyfriend since she was upset about the delay.
Lance Corporal Ahmada allegedly entered the repair shop and attacked the technician violently in a startling turn of events. He brutally thrashed Alkasum in front of onlookers, according to witnesses. After losing consciousness, the victim passed away from his wounds.

Nuruddeen Abubakar, an eyewitness, stated, “This is heartbreaking.” The boy’s only goal was to earn a living. His lone transgression was failing to fix a phone on time.
According to reports, the soldier ran away and is still at large. Human rights organizations and local citizens have condemned the tragedy and are calling for justice and accountability.
In a statement, a local rights organization declared, “This is murder, not just brutality.” “The Nigerian military needs to turn over the suspect for prosecution right away.”
SP Suleiman Nguroje, the spokesperson for the Adamawa State Police Command, confirmed the event and said the military is looking into it internally before turning the issue over to the police for further action.
Supported by rights groups, the deceased’s family is demanding immediate justice and arguing that the issue cannot be ignored.
