Bollywood Legend Dharmendra Dies at 89

Dharmendra Kewal, a renowned Indian actor A legendary period in Bollywood came to an end with the death of 89-year-old Krishan Deol in Mumbai.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi described his passing as the end of an era in a message posted on X, and tributes flooded in from all over India on Monday.

Over the course of his more than 60-year career, Dharmendra appeared in more than 300 movies and gained recognition as one of the most diverse actors in Indian cinema.

He gave outstanding performances that influenced Bollywood’s golden age, ranging from action and romance to humor and severe drama.

Even while he never held the unchallenged top spot in the business, he had a reputation that few performers could match—one that was reliable, lucrative, and highly esteemed.

In 1997, Dharmendra received the Filmfare Lifetime Achievement Award, and in 2012, he received India’s third-highest civilian award, the Padma Bhushan. Generations of Indian film enthusiasts have been influenced by the enormous legacy he leaves behind.
