President Muhammadu Buhari’s visit to Maiduguri, Borno, prompted the Boko Haram attack that killed several innocent citizens, according to Femi Adesina, a presidential media aide.
According to Mr Adesina, the Islamic extremists attacked Maiduguri International Airport last week in order to deter Mr Buhari from visiting Borno on a state visit.
The media aide claimed, “It was a form of scaremongering.” “They were attempting to scare the president away.” However, they have overlooked the fact that the president is a retired general.”

Mr Adesina said on TV on Sunday night that terrorists attacked the airport in order to force Mr Buhari to cancel his visit.
“They’ve forgotten that he’s a self-sufficient man.” They believed they could persuade the president to postpone his visit,” Mr Adesina added.
“That was why they did what they did,” he went on to say. But, as you can see, the president went ahead with the visit, which, by all accounts, was a huge success. It’s tragic that some people died as a result of the attack. However, it demonstrates the cowardice of those who perpetrated the attacks.”
Despite Mr Buhari’s claim that the terrorists could no longer launch large-scale attacks on cities, the Maiduguri airport was attacked by Boko Haram last Thursday.

The attack came just weeks after the Wall Street Journal reported that the Nigerian Air Force had coordinated a ransom payment to armed bandits operating near the president’s home state of Katsina in order to avoid shooting down his plane.
