Nigeria’s criminal justice system is allegedly on trial, according to activist lawyer Madubuachi Idam.
Idam’s response was in response to Martins Vincent Otse, nicknamed VeryDarkMan, leaking recordings of transvestite Idris Okuneye, also known as Bobrisky.
Bobrisky gave a N15 million bribe to some EFCC officials in order to get his money laundering accusations against him dropped, according to an audio clip that VeryDarkMan published.
Bobrisky also asserted that he was able to avoid serving his six-month term in Kirikiri jail by staying at a lodge thanks to an arrangement made with his godfather.
According to Idam, “the entire criminal justice system in Nigeria is on trial as a result of the audio leak.”
There is a recording that has been making the rounds, which Facebook activist Verydarkman revealed, that implies certain prisoners are allowed to serve their time in prison in respectable apartments rather at the caretaker centers where they are required to be housed.

“Without using Verydarkman or Bobrisky as scapegoats, this allegation has to be taken seriously as a national issue.”
“Bobrisky needs to be treated like a new bride, given protection and safety guarantees, and supported in naming and shaming everyone connected to the accusation in order to uncover the truth. He will refute the accusations if that happens, and the issue will be forgotten.
“The details of his incarceration, including the number of counts he was supposed to face and the identity of the person who gave him the money to have some of his charges dropped, must be revealed.”
