Benue State Governor, Dr Samuel Ortom has charged women and care givers in the state to always take the immunization of their children as top priority just as he commended the efforts of major partners for the success of the programme in the state for the last 10 years.
The Governor who was represented by his deputy, Engr Benson Abounu gave the charge today at the flag off of the February 2020 Round of National Immunization plus Days at FSP Clinic, Agan in Makurdi.
The Governor acknowledged the efforts of the World Health Organization, UNICEF, the National Primary Health Care Development Agency, Abuja, and many other partners for their contributions to the fight against polio and other child killer diseases.
He also praised the efforts of both the Christian Association of Nigeria CAN and the Muslim Umma in the state for their partnership with other stakeholders in the campaign against poliomyelitis and other child killer diseases.
He encouraged them to turn out en masse for the immunisation exercise which commences from 15-18 of this month.
Earlier, the Executive Secretary, Benue State Primary Health Care Board, Dr. Bem Ageda made it known that all resources committed to polio eradication projects has yielded a positive results as he charged government to embarked on more social campaign in order to win the fight against polio on the State.
There were Goodwill messages from representatives of major partners of the Benue state government, among them the World Health Organization (WHO)’ National Primary Health Care Development Agency, UNICEF, Rotary International, CAN and the Muslim community.
The event was witnessed by a large number of people, among them traditional rulers and women that brought their children for immunisation.
