The benefits of participating in the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) four cardinal programs, according to Mrs Victoria Ani, Coordinator of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in Ondo State, are unquantifiable.

Ani made the announcement during the closing ceremony of the orientation course for the 2021 Batch ‘B’ (Stream 1) corps members deployed to Ondo State on Monday at the NYSC permanent orientation camp, Ikare-Akoko.

She urged the corps members to adjust to their new surroundings and identify with the host community’s problems and aspirations.

“One of the unquantifiable real and deep knowledge that a corps member can gain from the community in which he or she resides is one of the benefits of the service year.

“The spirit of intolerance, ethnic prejudice, and fear that pervades every aspect of our national life will come to pass in this manner,” she said.

Ani advised corps members to accept their assignments without reservation, resentment, or negative feelings, as the national service was more important than personal or parochial considerations.

The energy-sapping physical activities and series of induction lectures, according to the state coordinator, were designed to help them become better citizens.

On the Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) program, she encouraged corps members to take advantage of the opportunity to prepare for post-service challenges by participating in post-camp training at their primary assignments.

Ani stated that the scheme would continue to fulfill its obligations, particularly in terms of security and welfare of corps members, stating that their safety would remain a top priority for the management.

“All of these efforts are expected to be naturally reciprocated through hard work and dedication to duty. “I’m taking advantage of this opportunity to urge employers to treat corps members as if they were their biological children,” she said.

Ani instructed the corps members to take personal security seriously, conduct scientific studies of their surroundings, and seek to understand every minute detail of their surroundings.

She reminded them that COVID -19 is a real virus and urged them to protect themselves by following all of the protocols associated with the virus’s spread.
