Ibrahim Garba’s employment with the State Pension Board as the Chief Secretarial Assistant has been terminated by the Bauchi State Civil Service Commission due to allegations of “serious misconduct of salary and pension scam.”
This information may be found in a statement made public on Tuesday in Bauchi by BSCSC’s information officer, Mr. Saleh Umar.
The Public Service Rule (PSR) 0327(XI), which addresses matters of financial embezzlement, is allegedly breached by Garba’s actions, according to the commission.
“On August 1, at a session of the 17th plenary session, the commission approved the termination.
“A State Pension Board disciplinary commission found Garba guilty of changing the account number of one Audu Mohammed, who is now deceased, with his own.
“This made it easier to adjust the pay point when the deceased’s kin confirmed his passing.
“Subsequently, he got an illegal pension for 55 months at a rate of N54,871 over a period of four years and seven months, totaling more than N3 million.
“This amount will be recovered from Garba’s benefits,” he declared.
He continued by saying that Alhaji Abubakar Usman, the commission’s chairman, had urged state employees to perform their jobs with a sense of reverence for God.
Usman insisted that the public service norm must be followed.
The commission won’t sit on its hands while dishonest people undermine the service, the panel’s chairman assured the state’s public servants, promising that no employee will be victimized for no reason.
