The state of Bauchi’s governor, Bala Mohammed, swore in 24 new commissioners to the State Executive Council on Monday.
encouraged them to cut the cost of government and show fear of God when carrying out their appointed duties.
The governor gave instructions to the commissioners during the swearing-in event at the Banquet Hall, Government House, in Bauchi, in order for them to successfully carry out their duties. The governor specifically urged them to collaborate with their Permanent Secretaries.
He counselled the commissioners to regularly visit their areas in order to build confidence and transparency in governmental affairs.
He claims that his administration supports more performance, inclusivity without sacrificing merit, as well as reassessing and stepping up efforts to provide citizens more of the benefits of democracy.
The Governor reaffirmed that, although though they had been elected to serve as the representatives of their various constituencies, they had been picked for their qualifications, performance history, integrity, patriotism, and devotion.
Additionally, Governor Mohammed exhorted the State Executive Council members to repay the trust placed in them by working hard to ensure the success of his New Bauchi Project 2, which was first developed in the 20 local government areas with the goal of enhancing the quality of life for the populace.
He continued by saying that the macroeconomic landscape and underlying principles have created income and that his administration will work with the federal government to give citizens further relief.
He emphasised the necessity not to view the oath of allegiance as merely a formality and stressed the need for mutual understanding, cooperation, and synergy between the commissioners, permanent secretaries, main officers, and personnel of their respective ministries.
He urged them not to abuse their positions by putting their personal agendas before of their professional responsibilities, saying that no commissioner is superior to the others.
The governor emphasised the need of collaboration with security agencies, stakeholders, and traditional institutions and urged them to be approachable and dedicated. He also stated that accountability and openness will always serve as the administration’s guiding principles.
Faruq Mustapha, Abdulrazak Nuhu Zaki, Hajara Wanka, and the Ministry of Rural Development and Special Duties are the newly sworn-in commissioners.
