Some APC officials have come under fire from former presidential adviser Bashir Ahmad for neglecting Vice President Kashim Shettima during a gathering intended to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term in 2027.

When prominent party leaders, including as APC National Chairman Abdullahi Ganduje and North-East zonal leader Mustapha Salihu, neglected to bring up Mr. Shettima in their addresses, the Sunday endorsement meeting in the North-East descended into chaos.

The absence infuriated the event’s delegates and party members, who protested by disrupting the ceremony.

The Deputy National Vice Chairman (North-East), Bukar Dalori, had to go up and acknowledge the vice president before he could defuse the situation.

Former President Muhammadu Buhari aide Bashir Ahmad responded to the event on X on Sunday by cautioning that the party’s unity may be harmed if the vice president is ignored in such discussions.

“Those who purposefully bring up President Tinubu’s name in relation to 2027 while conveniently ignoring his deputy, Vice President Kashim Shettima, are not acting in the best interest of our great party, the APC,” he said.

Political statements and silences can be construed in a variety of ways. We do know that it is a joint ticket between BAT and KSM,” he stated.
