For the victims kidnapped during an attack on a general hospital in Katsina State’s Kankara Local Government Area, bandits have demanded a ransom of ₦540 million.
It was recalled that Dr. Murtala Sale Dandashire, a physician, and another person were shot to death during the Tuesday incident.
Several staff members were abducted during the attack, and Dr. Dandashire was wounded.

Yusuf Muhammad Mairuwa, the hospital’s head of the nursing department and assistant director of nursing services, is one of the abductees.
The bandits are requesting ₦270 million for Mairuwa’s release, as well as an additional ₦270 million for the other hospital employees and workers from a neighboring fertilizer business who were also abducted during the event, according to sources who spoke to the Daily Post.
Katsina State Governor Dikko Umaru Radda has denounced the assault and stated that his administration is dedicated to protecting the security and safety of medical personnel.
While acknowledging the progress made in decreasing similar attacks, Governor Radda stressed that the objective is still unfinished in a statement released by his Chief Press Secretary, Ibrahim Kaula Mohammed.
“To guarantee that our medical professionals can carry out their essential responsibilities without fear, we are rethinking our security strategy.
The governor promised that “the safety of our residents and healthcare workers remains our paramount concern.”
