Suspected bandits fleeing a military operation in Zamfara State have killed six people and kidnapped others in Sokoto State’s Tureta local government area.
The Tureta local government area shares a border with Zamfara State, which is currently undergoing a military operation.
Many people were injured as a result of the bandits’ invasion and are now receiving treatment in the hospital, according to reports.
Aside from the bandit invasion, the area is currently experiencing a telecommunications network outage in a neighboring state.
The bandits stormed the area around 2 a.m. on Thursday morning, according to the source.
According to the source, the attackers imitated Muslim prayers in order to deceive community members and draw attention to themselves.

“The residents started coming out, thinking it was time for a dawn prayer, and the bandits started shooting at them,” the source said.
According to the source, the area has been shocked by the killings and kidnappings, and some residents have begun to relocate to other areas.
The deputy governor of Sokoto state, Alhaji Maniru Dan’iya, paid a visit to the area and assured residents of the government’s commitment to ending banditry in the state.
The state government, according to the deputy governor, will pay all of the injured people’s bills.
