Bandits abduct 23 residents in Abuja.

On Thursday, a group of bandits, estimated to be in their 40s, raided the Kawu hamlet in the Bwari Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory, kidnapping 23 individuals.

The deputy speaker of the council and councilor for the area, Abdulmumini Zakari, discussed the development and stated the gunmen entered the community on Wednesday after traveling from Kaduna State’s Kuyeri Forest.

“They separated themselves into groups and some went into the palace of the district head, Abdurrahman Ali,” he clarified. “They abducted his wife, who he married two weeks ago, and his son, Lukman.”

“Others attacked the Marafa of Kawu, the compound of Alhassan Kawu, and the former Kawu Ward PDP Chairman. He and his four children were taken captive by them.

He added, “The bandits also broke into Sarkin Pawan Kawu, Gambo Pawa’s compound, and they kidnapped him, his two wives, and a few kids.”

The attackers invaded the neighborhood and fled into Kaduna State, according to SP Josephine Adeh, the spokesperson for the FCT Police Command, who confirmed the event to reporters on Thursday night.

“Some unknown hoodlums stormed Kawu village, a borderil community with Kagarko LGA, in Kaduna State, and kidnapped people. In actuality, the bandits invaded that region and made their way into Kaduna State, she claimed.

Less than twenty-four hours had passed since militants were reported to have kidnapped eighty-five people in Katari, in the Kachia Local Government Area of Kaduna State, along the Kaduna-Abuja route.

Similarly, gunmen posing as military officers reportedly broke into the community on Sunday and abducted eleven people from the Sagwari Estate Layout in the Dutse-Alhaji neighborhood of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.
