To prevent the loss of lives and property, the Senate has urged the country’s security agencies to be proactive in the fight against insurgency, banditry, and terrorism.
Following a point of order raised by Senator Aliyu Sabi Abdullahi of Niger North District, the Deputy Senate President, Ovie Omo-Agege, made the call.
Senator Sabi Abdullahi, rising on Order 42, called the Senate’s attention to a recent bandit attack in his Senatorial District.

The congressman bemoaned the attack on a police station in Nasko town, Magama Local Government Area, Niger State, by bandits who had come in huge numbers from Zamfara State.
During the raid on the town, the bandits killed some police officers and citizens, according to him, the Divisional Police Officer.
The Deputy Senate President, Ovie Omo-Agege, praised the security authorities’ quick response in his remarks.
He advised them, on the other hand, to take a proactive approach to protecting residents from militants, kidnappers, and terrorists.
“It is apparent from your personal explanation that they have done their best; we are aware of this.
“They were able to strike back with a vengeance and eliminate them.”
“We wish they had taken proactive measures rather than reactive action after lives had been lost.”

“However, we will continue to push security services to do all possible to police as much of our area as possible, particularly in Niger State, which is one of the country’s largest landmasses.”
Following that, the Senate observed a minute of silence to remember victims killed by bandits in Niger State’s Magama Local Government Area.
