Bala Mohammed, the governor of Bauchi State, said on Wednesday that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) wants to save Nigeria from its current state of division.
During a visit to former President Olusegun Obasanjo in Abeokuta, the capital of Ogun State, he stated this. The governor told reporters after the one-hour closed-door meeting that he had come to see the former president because he had been instrumental in his career development and to discuss some of his personal aspirations ahead of the 2023 elections.

“We’re rebuilding our party to get rid of squabbles and divisions.” “We still need him (Obasanjo), and his words of wisdom are extremely valuable,” Mohammed stated.
“So, I came to seek his opinion on some of the things we want to do in the party to close ranks and ensure that Nigerians have the opportunity to rescue the country from the current state of division.”
Governor Mohammed, a presidential candidate, emphasized that Nigeria’s leadership should be based on merit in order to bring everyone on board. The governor expressed confidence in his chances of winning the PDP ticket, claiming that Nigeria is too big to be overlooked.

The governor stated that the PDP is unconcerned if the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) zones the presidency to the south. He claims that the main opposition party will strategize, plan, and organize to win the general elections in 2023.
