The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)’s Atiku Abubakar and the Labour Party’s Peter Obi have both been accused of plotting to “burn down” Nigeria by Dumebi Kachikwu, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential’s candidate for the 2023 election.

According to reports, Atiku and Obi have both received orders to challenge the results of the election that took place on February 25 and which they both claimed were tainted by fraud and other irregularities.

Bola Tinubu, a candidate for the All Progressives Congress (APC), was declared the election’s victor by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on March 1. However, the PDP and the Labour Party candidates are contesting the results.

They then submitted separate ex parte applications to the Appeal Court, pleading for permission to inspect private documents used by INEC to conduct the presidential election.

However, Kachikwu urged the opposition candidates to band together “to make sure that Nigeria works” in response to the election’s results.

There are two options available to the ADC, Kachikwu stated in an interview with Punch that was released on Wednesday. We have two options: burn down Nigeria like the PDP or Labour Party.

“What this also means is that if you don’t think someone won, start a protest and hope that it sweeps the nation so that we can have an interim government or something. Alternately, we could unite as an opposition, define a clear agenda for Nigerians, and encourage the victorious party to create a plan that we will hold them accountable for.

We must realize that Nigeria and Nigerians are greater than political parties and the aspirations of individual people. These days, our nation faces difficulties. The state of our economy is dire. Infrastructure deficits are at an all-time high, security failed, and youth unemployment is at an all-time high.

“Our difficulties stem from the fact that we have fallen short in every area that is crucial for human development. To ensure that Nigeria functions, all of us must now unite as a people.
