The All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate in Rivers State, Patrick Tonye-Cole, filed a petition against Governor Siminalayi Fubara of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for the governorship. An appeal court located in Lagos State is scheduled to rule on this petition on Tuesday, today.
The parties argued and adopted their final written addresses just two weeks prior to the judgment date.

Cole is seeking a court order designating him as the victor of the March Rivers governorship election, according to INEC.
Despite being nominated by the PDP for governor, he maintains that Fubara continued to sign documents in his capacity as the State’s accountant general.
Along with other appeals, he also claimed that there were anomalies in the election.
