Appeal Court Judge, Joseph Ikyegh, died at 65

The Benue State native Ikyegh went away at the age of 65, it was learned.

A Court of Appeal registrar named Josephine J. Ekperobe reportedly verified Ikyegh’s passing to the WHISTLER.

“A deeply painful loss,” Ekperobe said. I pray for the tranquility of his beloved’s soul. Almighty.

It is important to remember that Ikyegh headed the committee that mandated the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to allow President Bola Tinubu’s, Atiku Abubakar’s (PDP), and Peter Obi’s (Labor Party) legal teams access to examine election-related materials on February 25, 2023.

In 1980, Ikyegh received his degree from Lagos’ Nigerian Law School.

July 16, 2010 saw his elevation to the Court of Appeal after he was appointed a judge of the Benue State High Court on March 27, 1991.

Ikyegh was one of the five members of the tribunal that heard Atiku Abubakar and President Muhammadu Buhari’s appeal for presidential election in 2019.

Dead: Kokori, a well-known APC chieftain
Relatedly, it has been reported that Frank Kokori, an aging statesman and prominent member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has passed away.

It was understood that the deceased individual, who was 80 years old on Thursday, December 7, 2023, died at precisely 1:30 am. He was the former General Secretary of the Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG).

Tribune reports that Atawada Barry Oke, Kokori’s personal aide, revealed his passage at around 2:30 in the morning.

As the former labor leader was put on life support, Oke said that the former leader’s health worsened on Monday, preventing him from interacting with those around him.

Less than a month had passed since Kokori, on Thursday, November 9, 2023, shouted out from his hospital bed, accusing the government of neglecting and leaving him to die despite his enormous commitment to the national democratic process.
