Mr Babatunde Osibodu, Chairman of the Ogun State Independent Electoral Commission (OGSIEC), declared that the All Progressive Congress (APC) won all 20 chairmanship positions in Saturday’s local government elections in Ogun.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Osibodu revealed the results of 17 councils earlier on Sunday morning, while the remaining three results and winners were announced at 2:30pm.
Osibodu went on to say that the total number of votes cast in the state’s 20 local government units for chairmanship elections was 396, 641.
“I want to announce unequivocally that the APC has won all of the chairmanship positions in the state’s 20 local government areas,” he added.

The commission’s chairman said that the results of the elections for all 236 councillorship seats in the state will be published as soon as they were available.
Osibodu expressed pleasure with the calm behavior of the people throughout the polls, stating that it contributed to the election’s success.
He also praised law enforcement for their part in the election’s success, saying that those who won should be gracious in triumph.
