After Team New Nigeria (TNN), an alleged offshoot group, bombarded Kano with campaign posters of former President Goodluck Jonathan, the APC has distanced itself from the group.
The ruling party maintained that the group was not affiliated with it and that no one in the APC knew of its existence.
Five days after the TNN declared that its supporters were departing the ruling party to start a new political party, the reply was made.

Modibbo Farakwai, the group’s national president, stated that they were aiming to reach at least 26 million voters nationwide. Speculations regarding Jonathan’s potential comeback to active politics were sparked on Thursday when posters portraying him standing for office in 2027 inundated Kano streets.
Nze Chidi Duru, the APC’s Deputy National Organising Secretary, responded by saying that the TNN was never affiliated with the APC because they printed and promoted Jonathan’s campaign posters even though they knew he was not a card-carrying member.
“I’m not going to make any assumptions. The APC is unaware of this group, which I view as amorphous. It would have been obvious to them that former President Goodluck Jonathan was not an APC member if they were true members of the party, Duru said.
