Umar Ganduje, the chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has come under fire from Farouk Aliyu, a founding member, for making a one-party state remark.
The previous House of Representatives Minority Leader reportedly stated that Ganduje’s stance on a one-party state did not reflect the party’s stance.
In an interview with Arise News on Tuesday, Aliyu justified the decision of opposition lawmakers to join his party.

“Undoubtedly, a one-party state is not ideal for us. We in the APC are not considering a one-party state. The statements made by Ganduje are his own. He stated, “Even if he is our leader, the APC does not hold the view that a one-party state is desirable.

He claimed that the opposition parties were in charge of maintaining order in their homes. On the other hand, he stated that the nation’s democracy would suffer if all politicians joined the APC.
But please understand that if someone runs to APC, it is not our fault. Prior to becoming a member of the ruling party, we were in opposition and remained so. with all of the threats and so forth. There is nothing we can do to stop members of the PDP or other parties from joining us.

But in all honesty, our democracy is not strengthened by everyone joining the APC. Additionally, democracy allows people to express their opinions. For example, “Since you are all in the APC, we will vote for any other party instead of the APC.” People will choose who they vote for, so don’t be afraid of this. The people will choose who to support when it comes to voting, regardless of if 90 percent of Nigerians choose to join the APC in terms of numbers, he said.

Nigerians, not party allegiance, should determine the outcome of elections, the chieftain of the Jigawa State APC said.

He urged Nigerians who are unhappy with politicians who have switched parties to vote them out.

When elections are held, the Nigerian people have the opportunity to decide if they can’t handle the flurry of activity. Did the previous governor of Kebbi State feel intimidated when the other person talked about it? A sitting governor was overthrown by this individual. In his bid to become a senator, he defeated our current governor of Kebbi State. He has now chosen to join the APC. When you consider all of them, what are we at fault for? They’ve accepted what our government is doing, and that’s the fault,” he remarked.

Nasir El-Rufai, a former governor, defected to the Social Democratic Party (SDP) after not being appointed a minister, the former member of the House of Representatives said.

“He would not be speaking in this manner if he were a minister. We haven’t yet witnessed an elite like this resigning from a position of power. From my perspective, El-Rufai is raving just because he lost out, he continued.
