In the midst of widespread economic hardship and mounting popular discontent, governors elected on the All Progressives Congress (APC) platform have reaffirmed their steadfast support for President Bola Tinubu’s bold reform initiatives.
Imo State Governor and Chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum (PGF), Hope Uzodimma, declared at a closed-door meeting in Abuja on Wednesday that despite early criticism, Tinubu’s economic reforms are gaining respect domestically and internationally.
The summit, which brought together APC governors, ministers, and party officials, provided an opportunity to assess the administration’s success, reaffirm party unity, and define a course forward in support of Tinubu’s vision for Nigeria.
“At the start of this administration, the opposition was very vocal in criticizing the government’s reform efforts. But today, the president is vindicated,” Uzodimma stated.
He explained that Tinubu’s economic measures, which have been heavily criticized domestically, are now being praised by renowned worldwide institutions. “The president is being commended by international bodies such as the World Bank and the IMF,” the official said.
Uzodimma stressed that the APC’s unity and internal democracy are critical to the party’s success. “This government was created by all progressive governors. Everyone present today is an APC member, regardless of their official status. “We’ve come together to congratulate ourselves and Nigeria on recent developments,” he said.
According to him, the discussion focused on strategizing how to effectively serve party members and residents who remain loyal to the party even during difficult times.
“We have a duty to support this brave man, who is committed to Nigeria’s progress,” according to the governor.
Speaking about President Tinubu’s forthcoming second anniversary in office, he stated that plans were underway to mark the occasion with a mix of celebration and reflection. “The APC National Working Committee will soon unveil the anniversary programmes and events, with full participation,” he assured us.

Meanwhile, Mohammed Idris, Minister of Information and National Orientation, described the meeting as a strategic and private-party conversation.
“This was a family meeting of APC governors, ministers and National Working Committee members,” Idris told the media.
He emphasized that the event provided an opportunity to assess the government’s success as it approached the midway point of its tenure. “We are delighted with what has been accomplished thus far. “There’s a lot to show,” he remarked.
The minister stated that the APC is increasing public engagement to better inform residents about the administration’s milestones while also soliciting comments for future improvements.
“We aim to collectively ensure Nigeria achieves the prosperity President Tinubu promised on taking office,” he stated. “In spite of challenges, we’re on the right path, and with God’s help, Nigeria will succeed.”
