Niger State Governor Sani Abubakar Bello has urged members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to “let bygones be bygones.”
He stated that party leaders must put their swords away and get their houses in order before the elections in 2023.
On Monday, the governor declared himself as the APC’s acting National Chairman.
He made the call to the APC leaders during a meeting in which he addressed the party’s state chairmen.

Governor Bello stated, “By the time you return, you will have united the party in your various States.”
“Please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, You must bring everyone together, both those who support you and those who oppose you.
“What we want in your various States is a united, unified APC, because we have elections coming up, and we hope and pray that by God’s grace, we will have a better result in 2023 than we did in 2019,” Bello charged the State party leaders.
On Monday, Bello resumed his duties as the ruling party’s acting Chairman, but he was met with fierce opposition from Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni’s camp.
According to the report, an attempt to remove Buni as chairman of the APC’s Caretaker Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee (CECPC) failed.
On Monday, it was reported that President Buhari had approved Buni’s removal from the CECPC and had replaced him with Bello.

However, after being confronted with the legal implication of the president usurping the powers of the APC National Executive Committee (NEC), the only body that can sack Buni or the CECPC, Bello, who addressed some of the party’s internal issues at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja, was forced to back down.
He was then forced to accept that he was only in charge of the CECPC meeting because Buni was not present.
