APC Chieftain Aliyu Audu has urged President Bola Tinubu’s administration to take into account the development of six additional states from each of the geopolitical zones.
On Wednesday, while appearing on a Channels Television programme, Audu, a member of the APC Presidential Transition Council’s Media Strategy Subcommittee, made the call.
The party leader emphasised that the expanding rural-urban migration would be reduced if more states were created.
The enormous migration of Nigerians to the metropolis in search of “greener pastures” has led to overcrowding in some states, according to Audu, like Lagos.
“If we can create six more states in six geopolitical zones, that will limit rural-urban migration and prevent people from leaving the North, the East, and the West for Lagos,” he stated, attempting to relieve some of the burden on Lagos.
It evens out the states, but to do this, you need more hands, more labourers, and more procedures.
