Anthony Joshua Crash: Police Take Driver into Custody

The Nigerian-British boxer Anthony Joshua’s driver is currently in the command’s custody, according to Ogun State police on Thursday.

Recall that on Monday, the 36-year-old boxer was hurt in a deadly car accident that killed his close friends Latif Ayodele and Sina Ghami.

According to reports, Joshua and his two pals were in a Lexus Jeep with the license plate KRD 850 HN when it collided with a stationary truck on Monday about 11 a.m. in front of Sinoma, before Danco, along the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway.

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Ogun Sector Command claims that the speeding driver improperly overtook from the right side and collided with the stationary car.

According to an AFP report from the Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency (TRACE) in Ogun State, the car lost control after the front tire on the passenger side broke as a result of the excessive speed.

According to the preliminary inquiry, Anthony Joshua’s SUV was undoubtedly speeding. The passenger side’s front tire burst throughout that process.

This resulted in a loss of control, which caused the car to veer and crash into the parked truck. The TRACE spokeswoman, Babatunde Akinbiyi, stated that there was excessive speed.

The deceased were placed in the Livewell Hospital Morgue in Sagamu, and Anthony Joshua was taken to the Duchess International Hospital in Lagos.

The public was reassured by DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, the State Police Public Relations Officer, that a comprehensive investigation into the accident’s circumstances will start.

In a statement released on Thursday, Babaseyi stated that the driver is presently being held while an investigation is underway.

In relation to the Anthony Joshua accident case, the driver of the Lexus SUV is presently being held.

The police spokesperson continued, “Investigations are ongoing.”
