Mr Basil Ejidike, the embattled state chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has been sacked by the APC in Anambra State.
The Andy Uba faction of the party had been celebrating Ejidike’s inauguration as chairman by the national leadership following a state congress.
However, a faction led by Dr Chris Ngige, the Minister of Labour and Employment, has refuted the claims, claiming that Ejidike was not sworn in as chairman by the party’s national leadership.

Mr Okelo Madukaife, the factional publicity secretary, issued a statement praising the party’s national leadership for not swearing in Ejidike.
“Our dynamic chapter of the APC congratulates our great party’s national leadership on the wisdom contained in the decision not to swear in anyone as Chairman of the Anambra State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress,” he said (APC).
“This noble decision validates the position of our party’s mainstream in Anambra State that 2018 officials should continue to run our affairs until congresses can be held, as leadership abhors a vacuum.”
“We urge aggrieved party faithful who are understandably disappointed at the level of desperation displayed by a camp portraying a sacked former Chairman as’sworn in,’ to look beyond the ruse,” Madukaife said.

“Against the spirit of Anambra, nothing of the sort has happened, and nothing of the sort is likely to happen anytime soon.” This battle to restore sanity to our party may take some time. It’s possible that it will consume some energy. However, it is a fight that must be won.
“The people of Anambra should be aware that as a chapter, we have not elected any officials to any State Executive cadre and have not held any congresses.” Anyone dealing with anyone claiming to have been ‘elected’ after May 19, 2018, without having voted, does so at their own risk, which we disown.”
