Senator George Akume, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), is reportedly receiving emergency medical care in Germany.
According to a top presidential source, the 69-year-old former governor of Benue State was flown to the European nation around five days ago.
According to the reports, Akume was flown out for immediate medical care because the source revealed that he is presently ill.
“Tinubu’s SGF is currently ill and overseas. For immediate medical attention, he was flown to Germany. The source stated that he had been there for five days.

Akume has recently been seen at events, it was noticed in the meantime. At the graduation for students of the National Defence College (NDC) Course 31 on Tuesday in Abuja, the Permanent Secretary, Special Services, OSGF, Alhaji Aliyu Shinkafi, represented the SGF.
At the event, he named resource allocation, vulnerability to global economic and political instability, income inequality, environmental impact, and vulnerability as the main obstacles to economic growth at the national level.
As you may recall, Akume, who was chosen by President Bola Tinubu to serve as the SGF, represented the Benue North-West Senatorial District in the Senate from 2007 to 2019. He also served as minister of special duties and intergovernmental affairs under President Muhammadu Buhari from 2019 to 2023.
In addition, he served as the Senate’s Minority Leader from June 2011 to June 2015.
