Coordinator, Defence Media Operations, Maj. Gen. John Enenche, confirmed the operation in a statement on Monday.
General Enenche noted that, sequel to intelligence reports indicating a resurgence of terrorists’ activities in Parisu and Bula Bello settlements, the air interdiction missions were carried out immediately by Operation Long Reach Il, a subsidiary of Operation Lafiya Dole as part of on-going operations to rid out terrorists in the region
He explained that, Parisu, which is one of the stronghold for the BHT Commanders, has its booby-trapped access routes, fortified check points and structures camouflaged under the forest vegetation,
while recent aerial surveillance missions also showed increased activities of the terrorists in a cluster of structures in the middle of Bula Bello.
According to him, the Air Task Force dispatched its fighter jets to attack the 2 locations.
“The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) jets, while taking turns to engage the targets, scored accurate bomb and rocket strikes, resulting in the destruction of some of the structures as well as the killing of several terrorists”. He said.
