In order to support the Super Eagles in Cote d’Ivoire, the Nigeria Football Supporters Club (NFSC), according to its National Chairman Samuuel Ikpea, plans to organize at least 700 fans.
The 34th Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Cote d’Ivoire is expected to feature the Super Eagles representing Nigeria, according to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).
Anticipated dates for the month-long competition are January 13–February 11.
During the competition, Ikpea told NAN, the NFSC was doing everything in its power to make sure the Super Eagles received all the support they needed from the supporters.
“Cote d’Ivoire is home to our chapter. Of course, you are aware that Cote d’Ivoire is reportedly one of the offices and chapters of the NFSC that are located throughout the world.
As of right now, we have over 300 fans in Abidjan, and Alh. Mudashiru will be leading around 50 fans from our Ghana chapter.
Twenty supporters from our Niger chapter are being led by Alh. Ibrahim Bashiru, and fifteen supporters from our South African chapter are being brought in by Mr. Osita.
“In addition to the 300 fans we are traveling with from Nigeria, Togo will be joining us at Aflo with 30 fans,” he stated.
Everybody was working to make sure the Eagles won every game, according to the NFSC commissioner.
“I want Nigerians to know that we won’t be playing 11 against 12 when the Super Eagles play the host country,” Instead, 12 versus 12 will be played.
The reason behind this is that the NFSC, which is expected to arrive in Cote d’Ivoire with roughly 300 Nigerian supporters, is often the 12th player.
We already have a large following in Cote d’Ivoire, and this number will grow it.
“so the Super Eagles won’t ultimately endure what we did when we played Argentina in the World Cup in Russia.”
He declared, “We’re trying everything within human capacity to see if we can get over 300 fans.”
In order to guarantee the Super Eagles’ complete support, he called on philanthropists, business entities, and private organizations to support the NFSC financially.
To enable us to travel to Cote d’Ivoire in large numbers, we are pleading with businesses, private organizations, and philanthropists to provide the necessary financial support.
“We think we’re going to win the trophy home this time, in addition to defeating Cote d’Ivoire at home.
“Incredibly, despite the fact that Nigerians lack confidence in our ability to select the right players or have a competent coach,” he remarked.
He bemoaned the tough circumstances the NFSC frequently faces in order to guarantee that they assist the team.
As the 12th player on the field every time the Super Eagles play, we have always performed our part. It has been a difficult and sad moment for the NFSC.
“The NFSC members are seen dancing and working hard, regardless of how well the Super Eagles are performing. It is among our areas of expertise.
Regardless of their performance, these players must be motivated. In contrast to the Super Eagles, who can effortlessly fly there, they may have to travel more than five hours to get to a game site.
He claimed that occasionally these same folks do not receive the credit they rightfully deserve.
He stated that the most excruciating aspect of it all is that the average return ticket price for an individual to Cote d’ivoire is over N 800,000.
The Super Eagles usually perform better, according to Ikpea, when the NFSC provides them with the crucial support of the crowd.
In the largest game of that group on January 18, when we play the hosts, we’re going to do just that. After that, we’ll start destroying other teams and go on.
“We need to send a lot of people to Cote d’Ivoire to boost these players’ morale, and Nigerians should be optimistic about it,” he stated. “The NFSC should get financial support.”
Twenty-four teams—including Ivory Coast, who automatically qualified as hosts—made it to the championship round, according to NAN.
