After losing back-to-back fights, Israel Adesanya, the two-time UFC middleweight champion, has emphasized that he is not giving up on his career.
In the official UFC rankings, Israel Adesanya, an Australian fighter of Nigerian descent, dropped two spots to fourth place after losing to Nassourdine Imavov via second-round TKO at UFC Fight Night 250 in Saudi Arabia.
Since it’s Israel Adesanya’s third straight loss in almost a year, this setback comes at a difficult time.
As a result, Imavov moved up to the second position, just ahead of Khamzat Chimaev, in the middleweight rankings, which have experienced substantial changes.
MMA reporter John Morgan predicts that Chimaev will challenge the victor of the forthcoming championship rematch between Dricus du Plessis and Sean Strickland, notwithstanding Imavov’s ascent.
With the intention of ending his run of straight defeats, Adesanya went into the fight. In August of last year, he suffered another defeat at UFC 305 against du Plessis after losing his belt to Strickland at UFC 293.
Adesanya began the fight against Imavov strong, delivering a number of forceful low kicks, but the referee had to step in after he was caught by a big right hand and a left uppercut.
Adesanya’s career has undergone a significant change as this is the first time in six years and twelve bouts that he has fought without a UFC title at stake. After 13 years in mixed martial arts, he has already recorded 24 victories, including 16 knockouts, and four defeats.

Following his TKO victory over Chris Curtis in January, Roman Kopylov made his ranking debut at No. 14, and promising prospect Bo Nickal made his ranking debut at No. 15. The middleweight category has also seen new arrivals.
“As real as it gets, @ufc,” Adesanya said on his official X page after the battle, demonstrating his resilience. Eyes of a snake rolled the dice. I went to grab some milk and will be back.
