Alex Otti, the governor of Abia State, and Peter Obi, the party’s 2023 presidential candidate, are the losers in the party’s leadership crisis, according to the Julius Abure-led section of the Labour Party (LP).
Obiora Ifoh, the party’s polarizing National Publicity Secretary, made this statement on Saturday in response to a court decision over the by-elections that were held that day.
Interim National Chairman Nenadi Usman and her camp’s celebration that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had revoked Julius Abure’s recognition after a Federal High Court ruling on August 15, 2025, surprised the faction.
According to Ifoh, Usman and her allies were influencing the opposition. They were celebrating, he thought, because they wanted the LP dead.

“Do they not allow the enemy to gain an advantage? Who gains anything from this whole ordeal? Who lost? Dr. Alex Otti and Peter Obi are the losers in all of these, aren’t they? Is their celebration motivated by a desire for the party to end?
“A party that offered them a platform when they were dissatisfied with other political parties, a party that gave them hope when they had none.”
Nenadi’s practice of disseminating the identical counter-affidavit as though it were a brand-new document is therefore childish. Their celebration means nothing to us,” the message read.
