Abuja food stuff traders applaud government’s measures despite lockdown

Traders majoring in foodstuffs in the Federal Capital Territory have praised government for the measures taking to cushion the effect of the lock down in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Traders at the Lugbe fruit market in the FCT who spoke to our correspondent expressed satisfaction with government’s efforts in handling the outbreak.

Zakaria Abdullahi, a fish seller urged the government to continue protecting the citizens and caring for them just like they did in the wake of this crisis.

He said: ”we are law abiding people and we are very happy that we are allowed to come out and sell the basics that people need to survive.

Another trader, Adamu Usman praised  President Muhammadu Buhari and the FCT Minister for allowing them bring out  foodstuffs to sell to people in other to cushion the effect of the lock down.

He thanked thank the security agencies for  being very civil in their approach as they enforce the lockdown.

Meanwhile, major highways in the FCT have remained deserted as the lockdown enters it’s third day. A drive through the city reveals security personnel in strategic locations.

Some of the essential workers who spoke to our correspondent expressed satisfaction with the level of civility being demonstrated by the security agencies.
