The Abia State House of Assembly has refuted any plan whatsoever to indict the incumbent governor, Okezie Ikpeazu, from office.
Ifeanyi Uchendu, the Deputy Speaker of the House, made this information public on Saturday while addressing the press following a meeting with the governor at the Governor’s Lodge in Aba. The meeting was held earlier in the day.
Uchendu advised the general public to disregard the “rumor” that is circulating, adding that the House of Representatives has not even reconvened since the state elections.
He said, “I just want to inform you that what has been gaining grounds that the House of Assembly is planning to impeach the governor is just a rumor.” He was referring to the rumor that the House of Assembly was planning to remove the governor from office.

“There is no such plan,” the person said. In point of fact, as we speak, the House of Representatives has not even resumed its session. As a result of the election, we just returned from our vacation. We have not yet decided when we will get back together again. I am standing here to tell everyone that there are no such plans to impeach the governor, and I am doing so from this very spot.
Uchendu stated, in addition to the fact that the citizens of Abia State are pleased with the governor, that “he has done well for us and for the entire citizens of Abia State.” Even if he steps down from his position as president within the next two months, he will do so without incident because he is a peaceful man.
