The Lagos State Ministry of Youth and Social Development in collaboration with Lagos State Resident Registration Agency has concluded plans to register the youths in the state.
The Commissioner for Youth and Social Development, Mobolaji Ogunlende, in a statement on Tuesday, stated that the exercise was aimed at building a reliable database for youths in the state.
Ogunlende said the exercise, meant for youths between the ages of 18-35 years, would commence on Monday, March 25 and end on Friday, March 29, 2024, at Adeyemi Bero Auditorium, Alausa Secretariat, Ikeja.
He said the exercise would take place daily from 8 am to 4 pm daily after which applications will be done online.
The statement quoted the Permanent Secretary in the ministry, Toyin Oke-Osanyintolu, as stressing that the exercise would assist the ministry to have an accurate database to plan for youth programmes, adding that for any to benefit from such they must be registered with the ministry.
She said, “The essence of the whole exercise is aimed at a proper allocation of resources towards youth development. As a ministry statutorily saddled with this responsibility, we would ensure that both the formal and informal youths are properly captured. By so doing we can work towards helping them to realise their dreams by initiating policies and programmes suitable for them.”
