The Lagos State government has issued a warning about handling and storing combustible materials carelessly.

Bridge facilities and priority projects are the focus of Lagos State Government’s N125 billion bond subscription. In a joint statement released over the weekend by Lanre Mojola, the director-general of the Safety Commission, and Olugbenga Oyerinde, the commissioner for special duties and intergovernmental relations, the state reaffirmed Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s administration’s commitment to safeguarding public safety.

According to Oyerinde, it is now crucial to educate the public about the need to practice greater caution when handling and transporting flammable materials, fuels, chemicals, and other dangerous goods because the risks involved are enormous and can result in significant losses in terms of lives lost, property damage, and legal action.

In his speech, DG Mojola stated that it was impossible to put a number on the value of lives.

According to him, the commission has started a campaign called “Safety For You” with the goal of encouraging every Lagosian to prioritize their safety. The goal of this campaign is to promote proactive safety measures in personal, professional, and business contexts by increasing awareness of them.

Salami claims that delayed reforms will cost Nigeria “inevitably.”
He asserts that the possibility of explosions and fire outbreaks under extreme pressure and temperature exists in chemical and combustible stockpiles.

He emphasized the importance of maintaining our own and our neighbors’ safety and urged the public to exercise accountability. “Please report something when you see it. A harm to one is a harm to all.

According to him, commission officers were making rounds to make sure everyone was safe.

In order to handle combustible items and move them from one place to another within the State, he urged craftspeople and tradespeople to consult experts.

He warned people to notify the nearest security agency or 07000SAFETY about any stockpiles of hazardous materials.
