The appointments of new board members for Polaris, Union, and Keystone banks have been authorized by the Central Bank of Nigeria, or CBN.
The move is said to have occurred just hours after the board of directors overseeing the deposit money banks was abolished by the top bank.
Sidi Hakama, the acting director of corporate communications at CBN, announced the appointment’s immediate effect in a statement on Thursday morning.
In the release, CBN announced the appointment of Yetunde Oni, the first female CEO of Sierra Leone’s Standard Chartered bank, to the position of CEO of Union Bank.
At the tier-2 bank, Mannir Ubali Ringim was named Executive Director.
Likewise, Hassan Imam was named Keystone Bank’s Chief Executive Officer, and Chioma Mang was named Executive Director.
Lawal Mudathir Omokayode Akintola was named CEO of Polaris Bank by CBN, while Chris Ofikulu was named Executive Director.
“The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has appointed new executives to oversee the affairs of Union Bank, Keystone Bank, and Polaris Bank, following the dissolution of their boards and management on Wednesday, January 10,” the CBN announcement states.
