Former Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management, and Social Development Minister Sadiya Umar Farouq has shown up at the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) headquarters to provide information about her stewardship.

Mrs. Umar-Farouq showed up at the EFCC headquarters to accept the anti-graft agency’s invitation to provide clarifications on a few matters the Commission is looking into.

Prior to now, the former minister had expressed her willingness to accept the invitation from the Commission.

According to reports, she stated, “I will defend my actions, stewardship, and programs during my tenure whenever I am called upon to do so. I remain proud to have served my country as a minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria with every sense of responsibility.”

Prior to this, the former Minister had declined to accept the anti-graft agency’s invitation to discuss the purported N37.1 billion in money laundering that occurred during her tenure.

Nevertheless, she sent a letter to the Commission expressing her regret for not accepting their invitation.

Dele Oyewale, the EFCC spokesman, had informed Channels Television that the former minister had written to the anti-graft agency to clarify that she is not currently in the mood to appear before the commission.
