Gunmen assassinate father for refusing to give his daughter’s hands in marriage

Gunmen, believed to be infamous bandits, assassinated a father in the Tsafe Local Government Area of Zamfara State after he refused to marry his daughter to one of their colleagues in Kwalfada village.

One of the bandits reportedly proposed marriage to a village girl, but the girl’s father flatly turned down the offer, according to Usman Magaji, a local resident.

According to Magaji, the girl’s father rejected the bandit’s proposal and chose to wed her to another villager.

The girl’s father was slaughtered by the bandits who broke into the village as soon as the marriage contract was signed.

In order for their colleague to marry her, the terrorists further requested that the recentlywed spouse promptly file for divorce.

“They threatened to kill the spouse if he disobeyed the order.

“The wife was remarried to the bandit who brought her to the forest after the husband promptly divorced her,” he claimed.

Magaji noted that the lack of security for the community’s residents has allowed the bandits to terrorise it for a considerable amount of time.

He claims that the locals paid N4 million a few weeks ago, indicating that the bandits had been levying taxes on the community members.

Before we could raise the money, he added, “we had to sell our food items and other valuables.”

Yazid Abdulahi, a spokesman for the State police command, had not yet commented on the matter as of the report’s writing.
