Salihu Lukman, a former national vice chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) from the North-West, and former governors of Ekiti and Ogun States, Kayode Fayemi and Ibikunle Amosun, respectively, hatched a scheme to remove Adams Oshiomhole from his position as head of the party.
Specifically, Oshiomhole discussed his conflict with the governors chosen based on the party’s programme.
He revealed this during the book launch of Salihu Lukman’s “APC and Transition Politics” in Abuja on Tuesday.
Oshiomhole described how the writer led the effort that resulted in his “illegal” removal from office, along with a few governors.
After he took steps to establish party domination, he said the governors used every unlawful tactic at their disposal to get rid of him.
Lukman ignored my leadership in multiple letters and never gave me a call. There’s just one place you can go when you ride a tiger.
“The governors’ forum appointed Lukman in an undemocratic manner. As a governor, I was not consulted. This is the APC governors forum’s new director general, we were informed.
I requested a meeting with the governors in a letter. The governors told him not to come to the APC office, but to Imo House instead. Where the meeting was being held, he [Lukman] was present. According to Oshiomhole, there was nothing wrong with that.
Oshiomhole described the ambiance of the meeting with the governors, saying, “It felt like I was in a military barrack.”
After hearing the governors’ tirades, he added, “None of you can lecture me about the power of a governor.” due to my two terms as governor. For eight years straight.
I once said to Fayemi, ‘You did a resit.'” After being elected, you lost your second term. That implies that you were unsuccessful. You’re lecturing me about power even though I didn’t complete a retest. I’ll list a few of them here.
According to the man in Ogun State, he would have quit the party if it weren’t for the president. A few of them informed me that they were employed by their boss in Lagos. In Bourdillon, your paymaster.
