Taiwo Oyekanmi was the former Director of Finance and Administration in the Oke-Mosan Abeokuta office of Governor Dapo Abiodun. On Friday, the Ogun State government announced a N50 million reward for information that leads to the capture of Oyekanmi’s killers.
On Wednesday, November 29, Oyekanmi, 51, was shot and killed by assailants near the Kuto Flyover Bridge in Abeokuta.
When the dead and two other people returned to the governor’s office in Abeokuta with money purportedly taken from two significant commercial banks in the city, they were approached by the thugs brandishing guns.
The chartered accountant, born in Ifonyintedo, was assassinated by the attackers, who also stole the large sum of money.
Governor Dapo Abiodun pledged to use all available means to ensure that the assassins of the top government servant are held accountable, stating that the death of the official left his cabinet distraught and shaken.
But according to a statement released by the state government on Friday, anyone who can provide information that aids security officers in apprehending murderers stands to earn a N50 million cash reward.
