In order to promote peace and prosperity, the Ijaw National Congress Worldwide has encouraged Nyesom Wike, the most recent governor of Rivers State, to reconcile with Governor Siminialayi Fubara.
Expressing dissatisfaction with the political issues facing the state, especially those involving Fubara and his predecessor, the group vowed to constantly support the truth and sound governance.
The group’s president, Prof. Benjamin Okaba, made this information public in a statement that was made available the media on Sunday in Akure, Ondo State.
In the statement, the group urged Rivers State residents to resist the purported plan to remove Fubara from office and urged Wike not to topple the state’s current government.
“We fervently urge all political actors in Rivers State to fulfill their civic duty to their constituents and immediately abstain from any additional actions that could compromise the integrity of the office, institution, and person of the Governor of all Rivers people,” the statement stated.
In particular, we implore Chief Nyesom Wike to turn back from inciting division of any kind against the current administration in the name of defending his “structure.” The political system he speaks of shouldn’t be combined with Governor Fubara’s administration to form a single, submissive body.
