A first-class traditional ruler, the Ohimege Igu, Konto-Nkarfe, Alhaji Abdulrazaq Kotofor, has been challenged by the Kogi State Government for allegedly participating in partisanship during the recently ended governorship election.
Salami Deedat, the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, signed the November 22, 2023, question with reference number MLGCA/CHI/S/P/359/1/36.
The commissioner asked, “It has come to the notice of the state government that you intentionally engaged in political activity in the recently held Kogi State gubernatorial election.
This is taken extremely seriously, particularly considering that under your supervision, a crisis that resulted in the murder of an innocent young woman and the injuries of several others broke out, putting the security of your domain at risk.
“It’s a tragic contrast to your intended role as a renowned royal father that you would do something so blatant. More concerning is the fact that you behaved indifferently when your actions endangered the state’s highly desired security and tranquility.
In light of the aforementioned, you are thus required to provide a written justification for why disciplinary action shouldn’t be taken against you within 48 hours.
“When the state government forms a panel to review your case, oral explanations might also be necessary from you.”
Upon filing this report, our correspondent was unable to ascertain whether the king had addressed the inquiry.
