Three vandals were given six months’ imprisonment on Tuesday by a Federal High Court located in Dutse, Jigawa State.

While damaging solar security lights in Gujungu town, Taura local government, in March 2023, members of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) apprehended the guilty.

Shafi’u Hamza, Umar Adam Abdullahi, and Kabiru M. Musa were among those taken into custody. They were charged before Honorable Justice Hassan Dikko of the Federal High Court, Jigawa State’s Dutse Division.

Two counts of criminal conspiracy and tampering with electric equipment (two ROY 12V/150Ah solar batteries and a charge controller) were brought against them before the Federal Higher Court.

Both Section 1(10) of the Miscellaneous Offenses Act and Section 97 of the Penal Code are violated by the crime.

The accused entered a guilty plea to each and every accusation.

Following that, Justice Dikko, the presiding judge, found them guilty and gave them a six-month prison sentence without the possibility of paying a fine.

In addition, he gave them instructions to reinstall the altered properties.
