Religious leaders across the nation have been cautioned by Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Nyesom Wike to be wary of politicians who persist in negative partisanship after the 2023 elections have concluded.
The Minister issued the warning on Wednesday in Abuja during separate meetings with the Committee of FCT Imams Initiative, led by Dr. Tajudeen Adigun, and the Christian Association of Nigeria, led by the Most Rev. Daniel Okoh.
He cautioned the religious authorities to exercise caution when reading anything on social media.
Wike advised them to verify reports and pose questions before accepting their veracity.
He asserted that certain politicians attack their rivals by using religious authorities as puppets.
Let me give us all some advice, says Wike. You claim not to be politicians, but exercise caution while dealing with them. Politicians that are so eager to gain power should be avoided.
“Be wary of politicians who seem to be limitless in their power.” Not everything you come across on social media is accurate. Ask inquiries when you go.
I am the FCT Minister, and I am seated here. Just as you wrote for this courtesy call, don’t hesitate to question, “Is this thing I am hearing correct?” if you have any suspicions about anything the FCT is attempting to accomplish. in order for us to be able to protect both the government and ourselves.
Some individuals are unable to confront us in the political sphere; instead, they turn to religious authorities and ask, “Do you know this man?” He despises you. Otherwise, you would have fallen into the trap and he would not have done this or that.
“Don’t let politicians sell or misrepresent facts. Those who are desperate and believe that Nigeria must fall if they are not in power should be avoided.
“This is what you heard; what is the position? Please ask questions if there is anything you are unclear about. However, you are not improving yourself in any significant way if you believe the propaganda put forth by political figures.
“The election is over. Don’t give in to those who wish to divide the nation through propaganda. losers in politics. We all need peace, yet they are fighting against it. We cannot visit churches or mosques in the absence of peace. There is a new president. Now is the time for you religious leaders to ask God to help him succeed, as it will have an impact on all of us if he fails.
